AI-powered impairment detection.
iAlyze has developed proprietary novel technology using artificial intelligence to detect impairment from alcohol and marijuana.
How We Use AI
Artificial intelligence utilizes machine learning and neural networks. iAlyze technology harnesses this emerging technology to automate impairment detection procedures that have been used by police for decades.

Our technology does not use infrared light, meaning it does not need to be held at a precise location relative to the eyes. It can also be used in ambient light, making it more versatile for all environments.

Our primary research area involves the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus Test - a field test endorsed by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to detect alcohol impairment in drivers.
How iAlyze Detects Impairment
We designed and engineered a beta device for use in roadside alcohol impairment detection. The device is hand held and can be placed at a range of distance from the subject. When the user activates the device it runs through a momentary self test, then prompts the user through instructions on a screen which faces the user.
At the end of the procedure, the device calculates the results of the test and indicates whether impairment from alcohol has been detected or not. The device records the video taken during the procedure which can then be used as evidence in court.
Advantages of iAlyze
Automating the standardized Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus test eliminates the need for human guidance and judgment. Automating the process and the results eliminates any meaningful possibility for error significantly reducing any potential court challenges to the process and the measured results. This would reduce time that officers need to spend in court describing the process they used and the basis for their conclusions. In addition, consistent use of the iAlyzer during roadside stops could also reduce expensive officer training time.
As with the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus test, there is a highly specified procedure for detecting impairment from marijuana that has also been used by the police for decades. iAlyze technology can automate this process as well. This change would similarly eliminate the need for judgment by police officers in the procedure, and provide detailed computer generated results for evidence. Consistent use of this device would also reduce training expenses and officer court time.
